The rector Hugo Alberto Valencia Porras, in his capacity as President of the Colombian Association of Higher Education Institutions with Technical, Professional, Technological or University Training ACIET, together with different rectors of Higher Education Institutions in the country and leaders of social sectors, was invited to the Casa de Nari\u00f1o to the new Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Tito Jos\u00e9 Crissien Borrero. The work for a great acceleration in the promotion of scientific production was the central theme of the act in which unconditional support for university work in the country was also requested.<\/p>\n
During the ceremony, the Colombian president asked the new minister: \u00abLet’s achieve, in the transversality of functions with other portfolios, with the private sector and the country’s network of universities, in addition to the availability that the system has today through of the OCAD, that we can achieve our goal of exceeding 1 percent of GDP in investment made throughout the country in science, technology and innovation.<\/p>\n
That we can also link this entire network of rectors who accompany you today and who, by accompanying you, are also endorsing the support for the role that you assume so that with the universities we can, not only, be a pillar of university knowledge of research applied scientist, but rather that we link these developments with the university to issues as important as entrepreneurship, in issues in which Colombia already stands out.<\/p>\n
I am particularly referring to the scientific research that is being carried out in the agricultural sector, in which it is advancing on the issues of non-conventional renewable energies and, of course, the one that is also being carried out on issues such as biodiversity and on issues such as protection of our main natural reserves in the country. \u00bb<\/p>\n
