During his visit to the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, to represent Colombia at the 17th Assembly of the Network of Latin American and Caribbean Associations of Private Universities – REALCUP, the rector of the Mar\u00eda Cano University Foundation, Hugo Alberto Valencia Porras, had a working meeting with Dr. Susana Karakhanyan, former President and current member of the Accreditation Commission, National Center for Quality Assurance of Professional Education (ANQA), Armenia (country and former Soviet republic in the mountainous region of the Caucasus between Asia and Europe), Quality Assurance Manager, Department of Education and Knowledge, Abu Dhabi, UAE. The central focus of the talk was the work for quality in academic programs and the importance of internationalizing the curriculum. Dr. Karakhanyan’s experience and knowledge of higher education is highlighted thanks to her role as current President of INQAAHE, the International Network of Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education based in Spain; It also has extensive experience and specialization in the management of higher education institutions.<\/p>\n
Dr. Karakhanyan’s work revolves around authoring, initiating and implementing a variety of projects under the auspices of the Council of Europe, UNESCO, the Open Society Institute, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank to name a few. , thus contributing to the reforms of higher education in general and different elements in quality assurance in particular. The systems to which he had a tangible contribution include, but are not limited to countries and regions such as Albania, Mongolia, Tajikistan, other ex-Soviet countries, Europe, Southern and Eastern Africa, MENA region, and recently Asia, Vietnam. She is an author and provides capacity building events and external reviews of quality assurance systems and agencies. His service has been recognized through multiple awards and in recognition of his vast experience in quality control.<\/p>\n
All this work led by the rector Valencia Porras, during his visit to Argentina, will be reflected in greater rigor in the search for quality in the Mar\u00eda Cano University Foundation with the Medell\u00edn, Cali, Neiva, Popay\u00e1n and the Mariacanovirtual campus.<\/p>\n
