The study, titled \u00abRisk of falls, physical performance and functionality in adult patients admitted to a psychiatric hospital in southwestern Colombia,\u00bb is the result of collaboration between researchers from both institutions: Jos\u00e9 Luis Estela-Zape and Wilmer Arley Criollo L\u00f3pez of the Foundation Mar\u00eda Cano University, together with Ang\u00e9lica Mar\u00eda Pereira Escobar and Diana Constanza Gonz\u00e1lez Ortiz from the Valle University Departmental Psychiatric Hospital. This research not only shows a strong commitment to interdisciplinary research, but also a deep understanding of the complexities in the physical and mental health of patients in specialized hospital settings.<\/p>\n<p>The study focused on analyzing the relationship between the risk of falls, physical performance and functionality in adult patients hospitalized in psychiatric settings, specifically in basic activities of daily living. Comprehensive evaluations including fall risk measurements, physical performance testing, and functional capacity analysis were performed in this group of patients.<\/p>\n<p>The results showed a clear connection between the risk of falls and the decrease in physical performance, as well as a correlation between these variables and functionality in basic activities of daily living in patients hospitalized in psychiatric settings.
