{"id":13532,"date":"2024-07-15T19:16:50","date_gmt":"2024-07-15T19:16:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fumc.edu.co\/en\/?p=13532"},"modified":"2024-07-15T19:16:50","modified_gmt":"2024-07-15T19:16:50","slug":"morgan-state-university-visit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fumc.edu.co\/en\/morgan-state-university-visit\/","title":{"rendered":"Morgan State University Visit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Directors of Morgan State University visited the Mar\u00eda Cano University Foundation at the Medell\u00edn headquarters, with the objective of learning about the main social impact actions carried out by the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Mar\u00eda Cano University Foundation, mainly within the framework of the projects of \u00abOlder Adults and participation in health: The experience from Commune 10 Medell\u00edn\u00bb, as well as other actions at the level of research, teaching and extension that are led by the different undergraduate and graduate academic programs.<\/p>\n<p>The hosts of the activity were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The rector: Hugo Alberto Valencia Porras<\/li>\n<li>The academic vice-rector: Amilbia Palacios C\u00f3rdoba<\/li>\n<li>The vice-rector of extension and social projection: Carlos Julio Escobar Nore\u00f1a<\/li>\n<li>The administrative and financial vice-rector: Freddy Andr\u00e9s Espa\u00f1a Pulido<\/li>\n<li>The dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences: Juanita S\u00e1nchez Romero<\/li>\n<li>Dean Marco Antonio Ruiz Correa of \u200b\u200bthe Faculty of Business Sciences<\/li>\n<li>The coordinator (e) of international relations, Jairo Hern\u00e1n Meneses Ordo\u00f1ez<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Also present were the directors: Luz Stella Mart\u00ednez from the Psychology program, Marco Antonio Chaves Garc\u00eda from the Physiotherapy program, Ang\u00e9lica Jhoan Alarc\u00f3n Garc\u00eda from the Occupational Therapy program, Gildardo de Jes\u00fas Uribe Gil from the Nutrition and Dietetics program, Yeim Dufranny Narv\u00e1ez Vargas, leader of entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as the professors: Jhon Freddy Santos G\u00f3mez, Maria Tatiana Ram\u00edrez Loaiza, Gabriel Jaime Saldarriaga Ruiz, Diana Vanesa Vivares Porras and Natalia G\u00f3mez Cardona.<\/p>\n<p>Morgan State University is an institution for African-American citizens, and is located in the city of Baltimore, in the state of Maryland, in the United States of America. It is an urban university in the state of Maryland and has been designated as the largest historic university for African-American citizens of Maryland. In 1890, the university, which was previously known as Centennial Bible Institute, changed its name to Morgan College in honor of the Reverend Lyttleton Morgan, the first professor to donate land to the college. He is a member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. Although it is a public university, it is not part of the University System of Maryland; The faculty chose not to belong to the system, and has its own government with a Committee of Regents. Morgan State University was founded in 1867 at the Methodist Episcopal Seminary as Centennial Bible Institute to educate young people in religion.
