In the city of Leticia, capital of the Amazonas department, a working session was held between the Mar\u00eda Cano University Foundation and the Departmental Government\u2019s Secretariat of Planning and Regional Development. This dialogue space was led by the Head of the Planning Office, Dr. Jhony Ferney Pinto, and the Director of Science, Technology and Innovation (ST&I) of the department, Rosa Ramos.<\/p>\n

Representing the Mar\u00eda Cano University Foundation were Rector Hugo Alberto Valencia Porras and professor-researcher Lina Mar\u00eda L\u00f3pez Roa, who presented the progress of the project titled: \u201cBioeconomic Strengthening for Social and Productive Recovery Based on the Supply of Hydrological Ecosystem Services in the Context of Climate Change and the Challenges of COVID-19 in Prioritized Municipalities of Putumayo and Amazonas.\u201d<\/p>\n

The main objective of this project is to contribute to the transition towards sustainability through the implementation of bioeconomic strategies based on environmental differentiation\u2014particularly through the utilization of Hydrological Ecosystem Services (HES), considered a key comparative advantage in the Amazon region.<\/p>\n

The invitation extended by the ST&I Directorate is part of the ongoing work the Mar\u00eda Cano Foundation is carrying out in the municipality of Puerto Nari\u00f1o. This process goes beyond academic research to become a driver of social, economic, and environmental transformation, in close collaboration with local territorial entities.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, joint action routes were established, including the formulation of new projects with regional impact and, in the medium term, the development of relevant, context-sensitive educational offerings for the Amazonas region. These initiatives reaffirm the institutional commitment of the Mar\u00eda Cano University Foundation to social outreach and sustainable development in the country\u2019s most strategic regions.<\/p>\n
