The Mar\u00eda Cano University Foundation, Neiva campus, successfully held the Disciplinary Reflection Circles for the Speech-Language Pathology and Physical Therapy programs \u2014 academic spaces designed to strengthen professional training, promote reflection on fieldwork experiences, and foster the exchange of knowledge between academia and the healthcare sector.<\/p>\n

During the Speech-Language Pathology Reflection Circle, organized by the practicum coordinations, Juan Sebasti\u00e1n Cuenca, audiologist at IPS Audiosalud Integral in Bogot\u00e1, in collaboration with IPS Cenaudio in Neiva, shared meaningful experiences and innovative strategies aimed at developing sustainable projects in the field of hearing health. This activity enhanced students\u2019 knowledge in their area of professional practice while encouraging the creation of entrepreneurial initiatives based on their academic training.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Physical Therapy program conducted an update session focused on the latest trends in neurorehabilitation for patients with spinal cord injury, featuring prominent figures from academic and sports fields. Dr. Piedad Roc\u00edo Lerma Castillo, physical therapist from the University of Pamplona, with a Master\u2019s and Specialization in Neurorehabilitation and a Ph.D. in Cognitive Sciences from the Autonomous University of Manizales, presented the lecture \u201cApproach to Spinal Cord Injury,\u201d offering an in-depth perspective on intervention and recovery processes for this type of neurological condition.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Fabi\u00e1n Andr\u00e9s Molano V\u00e1squez, Physical Education graduate, lecturer, and researcher at the University of Surcolombia, coach of the Huila Para-swimming Team, and former Paralympic athlete, shared his personal experience living with a spinal cord injury, emphasizing the importance of adaptive sports, resilience, and interdisciplinary collaboration in neurorehabilitation processes.<\/p>\n

Both activities were aimed at internship students and academic advisors, encouraging reflection on field experiences, recognition of learning, and the development of a critical and empathetic perspective toward users\u2019 realities.
