In this context, Speech-Language Therapy students from the Popay\u00e1n campus carried out an academic visit to the Institute for Blind and Deaf Children in Cali, an experience that allowed them to explore first-hand the processes that promote inclusion for children with visual and hearing disabilities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14972\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fumc.edu.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/Foto-2-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fumc.edu.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/Foto-2-7.jpg 840w, https:\/\/www.fumc.edu.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/Foto-2-7-768x393.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 840px) 100vw, 840px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>During the visit, the students observed adapted pedagogical strategies, augmentative and alternative communication systems, the use of Colombian Sign Language (LSC), the braille system, and various assistive technologies. These practical encounters enriched their understanding of how inclusive education is implemented across different regions, highlighting the importance of recognizing the cultural, social, and pedagogical particularities of each context.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14973\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fumc.edu.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/Foto-4-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fumc.edu.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/Foto-4-3.jpg 840w, https:\/\/www.fumc.edu.co\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/Foto-4-3-768x393.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 840px) 100vw, 840px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The activity encouraged deep reflection on the sensory-perceptual components involved in learning, the curricular accommodations required, and the value of interdisciplinary collaboration in intervention processes.
