<\/p>\nWithin the framework of the 2026 Ordinary General Assembly of the Asociaci\u00f3n Colombiana de Facultades de Fisioterapia (ASCOFAFI), held from February 26 to 28 at the Universidad Mariana, the planned agenda was successfully carried out, ensuring broad institutional participation, technical analysis, and strategic decision-making aimed at strengthening physiotherapy education in Colombia.\u00a0During the Assembly, academic, administrative, financial, and governance sessions were conducted, guaranteeing transparency, democratic deliberation, and institutional projection of the association.<\/p>\n
The Board of Directors and Executive Directorate management report for the 2025 period was presented and approved, highlighting progress in interinstitutional articulation, strengthening of regional nodes, development of educational research, and professional positioning. Likewise, treasury and regional node reports (Caribbean, Central, Southwest, Northeast, and Coffee Region) recognized the decentralized work of affiliated institutions and outlined strategic actions for 2026.<\/p>\n
In the academic component, a technical analysis of the Saber Pro Exams in Physiotherapy was conducted, generating curricular guidance for the continuous improvement of academic programs. Additionally, recognitions were granted to institutions with high-quality accreditation and to node coordinators and secretaries, highlighting a strong culture of excellence.<\/p>\n

One of the most significant moments was the election of the new Board of Directors for the 2026\u20132028 term. In this democratic process, Fundaci\u00f3n Universitaria Mar\u00eda Cano was elected as Board Member (Vocal), a designation that recognizes the institution\u2019s academic, research, and professional leadership, as well as its trajectory in training physiotherapists with high-quality standards.<\/p>\n
Mar\u00eda Cano\u2019s participation on the ASCOFAFI Board of Directors represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen institutional positioning and contribute to the orientation of academic policies impacting physiotherapy education in Colombia. From this role, the institution will contribute its experience in quality assurance, curricular innovation, formative research, and social outreach.<\/p>\n
This achievement positions the Physiotherapy program as an active stakeholder in the collective development of the profession and will enable participation in strategic discussions on training standards, articulation with the higher education system, and strengthening of regional nodes, while also facilitating the exchange of best practices and the creation of interinstitutional alliances.<\/p>\n
The appointment as Board Member reaffirms Mar\u00eda Cano\u2019s commitment to academic governance, transparency, and collaborative work. The institution assumes this role with responsibility, leadership, and forward-looking vision to continue contributing to the strengthening and social recognition of physiotherapy in Colombia.<\/p>\n
