Fundaci\u00f3n Universitaria Mar\u00eda Cano continues strengthening its research projection and internationalization efforts. On this occasion, the Psychology program participated in the 36th Annual Meeting of the American Neuropsychiatric Association (ANPA) in the United States, one of the most important academic events in the field of neuropsychiatry.<\/p>\n

This academic mobility experience allowed the institution to showcase its research advancements while strengthening collaborative networks with international experts in clinical and health psychology. Participation in these types of events fosters knowledge exchange and opens new opportunities for scientific cooperation for the Mar\u00eda Cano academic community.<\/p>\n

During the conference, the results of the study \u201cCerebellar Dysfunction in Delirium\u201d were presented. The research included the participation of Psychology professor Ana Milena Gaviria G\u00f3mez, in collaboration with Dr. Paula T. Trzepacz from Indiana University School of Medicine and Dr. Jos\u00e9 Gabriel Franco from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medell\u00edn.<\/p>\n

The study focused on evaluating the presence of cerebellar signs in geriatric patients using clinical tests such as the finger-to-nose test and the Stewart-Holmes maneuver. The findings revealed that these signs are significantly more frequent in patients with delirium, reaching a 91% diagnostic accuracy, providing new insights into the role of the cerebellum in neuropsychiatric processes and improving bedside clinical detection.<\/p>\n

Through initiatives like this, Fundaci\u00f3n Universitaria Mar\u00eda Cano reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence and to strengthening the international visibility of its research community, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in psychology and health sciences.<\/p>\n
