On this occasion, students from the Physiotherapy program participated in a project showcase developed jointly with Mechatronics Engineering students from Corporaci\u00f3n Universitaria Comfacauca \u2013 UNICOMFACAUCA, as part of an academic partnership among higher education institutions in the department of Cauca.<\/p>\n<p>During this academic experience, students worked collaboratively on initiatives focused on creating technological tools aimed at improving and objectifying clinical evaluation in various health conditions that affect patients\u2019 quality of life.<\/p>\n<p>One of the projects addressed the analysis of facial paralysis, integrating the use of surface electromyography (EMG) to evaluate facial muscle activity and provide objective information for assessment and follow-up in rehabilitation processes. Another initiative focused on postural alterations, incorporating image processing through photogrammetry to enable a more precise and systematic analysis of body alignment.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, a project was developed to evaluate range of motion (ROM) in the hand, based on the digitalization of measurements and the use of inertial sensors to achieve greater accuracy and portability, overcoming the limitations of traditional goniometry methods.<\/p>\n<p>These initiatives integrated knowledge in biomechanics, motion analysis, sensor instrumentation, data processing, and clinical assessment, strengthening students\u2019 research skills while promoting the development of technological solutions applied to healthcare.
