Researcher and faculty member Diana Luc\u00eda Sinza Leyton, from the Neiva campus of Fundaci\u00f3n Universitaria Mar\u00eda Cano, proudly shares her recent publication in the journal RETOS: Nuevas tendencias en Educaci\u00f3n F\u00edsica, Deportes y Recreaci\u00f3n, titled \u201cFactors Associated with Gait Speed in Older Adults: Influence of Grip Strength and Sociodemographic Variables.\u201d<\/p>\n
This study is the result of an interinstitutional collaboration with professors Sergio Alejandro Quijano Duarte and Sonia Carolina Mantilla Toloza from the University of Pamplona, as well as professor Nelson Enrique Conde Parada from Universidad Mariana in Pasto, strengthening an academic network focused on aging and functional health research.<\/p>\n
The study findings reveal a positive correlation between gait speed and grip strength in non-institutionalized older adults, highlighting the importance of preserving muscular health as a key factor in maintaining functional mobility and independence in this population.<\/p>\n
These results provide relevant scientific evidence to better understand the factors that influence physical performance during aging and support the development of intervention programs focused on improving muscle strength and mobility from a preventive and comprehensive perspective.<\/p>\n
Through research contributions like this, Fundaci\u00f3n Universitaria Mar\u00eda Cano continues to strengthen its commitment to knowledge generation, collaborative research, and the production of scientific evidence aimed at improving the well-being and quality of life of older adults.<\/p>\n
