Its purpose is to promote responsible and transparent practices without compromising scientific integrity, confidentiality, or publication transparency. To this end, it emphasizes the importance of critically reviewing and verifying content generated or assisted by AI, while maintaining the ethical and professional responsibilities of everyone involved in the editorial process.<\/p>\n
The document addresses various aspects of incorporating these tools into research and scientific publishing. These include declaring and documenting AI use; reviewing the accuracy and validity of content; ensuring manuscript originality; verifying sources and bibliographic references; protecting confidential information; and overseeing editorial evaluation and decision-making processes. The policy is based on recommendations from the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Council of Science Editors (CSE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), among other guidelines referenced in the document.<\/p>\n
With this policy, RIICS establishes a framework for the use, disclosure, and oversight of AI in its editorial processes, grounded in the principles of scientific integrity, transparency, and editorial responsibility.<\/p>\n
