The Mar\u00eda Cano University Foundation, through an alliance between the Library, the Institutional Wellbeing area and the LEAMOS Center for Academic Reading and Writing, seeks to respond to the need to promote the development of argumentative skills and critical thinking in the academic community . With a view to this purpose, the first essay contest is presented, framed in the institutional initiative \u00abArtisans of the Word\u00bb, which was launched on April 23rd on the occasion of the celebration of Language Day. The reception of the manuscripts will take place between May 5 and 20 of this year, and then give way to the evaluation process that will go between the 21 and 27 of the same month. The best writings are expected to be awarded on June 4, in an academic-cultural event, in which we will have the participation of national guests, who will accompany us in the construction of the culture of written production.<\/p>\n

On the occasion of this first contest, it seeks to promote reflection on the contingency generated as a result of Covid-19 and its incidence in the development of academic actions that imbue the university community, which is why it is proposed as a theme \u00bb The adaptability to alternation: A new beginning \u201d, waiting to know the social representations of the participants regarding their experiences.<\/p>\n

Participants will be able to count on the personalized support of the LEAMOS Center for Academic Reading and Writing, for planning, textualizing and reviewing their written products. In addition, through its social networks, the Center will be in charge of publishing information that facilitates the construction of the texts.<\/p>\n

The essays must be original proposals that attend to the suggested theme in a logical structure typical of this textual typology. It must have a maximum of 1500 words and have at least 15 bibliographic references (which will not be taken into account in the word count); The entire manuscript will comply with the APA Manual 7 edition.<\/p>\n

We invite students, professors, administrators and directors of the Mar\u00eda Cano University Foundation to participate by sending their proposals.<\/p>\n
