Speech therapy committed to social projection in commune 10

In the facilities of the María Cano University Foundation and with a meeting mediated by ICT, the meeting was held between the Speech Therapy Program and the leaders of Comuna 10, in the center-east of the capital of Antioquia, with the aim of socializing the proposal of articulation that will allow the development of speech therapy actions that contribute to the communicative well-being and quality of life of the elderly in this important sector of the city of Medellín, which has an approximate population of 103,087 inhabitants, of which 46.1% are men ( 47,477) and the remaining 53.9% women (55,610).
To meet this objective, starting from the 2021-II period, the development of training practice and pre-practicals is proposed for the subjects of: Pharyngeal Oral Function, Speech II and Evaluation and intervention of adult language of the speech therapy program, which is a leader in the department for being the only Institution that offers it; Likewise, there will be the Geriatric Audiology module of the Specialization in Audiology.
The 10th commune of Medellín is made up of 17 neighborhoods and 3 institutional areas that are traditional and have a large influx of people in the city: Prado, Jesús Nazareno, El Chagualo, Estación Villa, San Benito, Guayaquil, Corazón de Jesús, Calle Nueva , Perpetuo Socorro, Colón, Las Palmas, Bombona nº 1, Boston, Los Angeles, Villanueva, La Candelaria, San Diego, La Alpujarra, Administrative Center and San Vicente de Paúl University Hospital. This space limits to the north with the commune No. 4 Aranjuez; to the east with communes No. 8 Villa Hermosa and No. 9 Buenos Aires; to the south with Commune No. 14 El Poblado; and to the west with communes No. 7 Robledo, No. 11 Laureles – Estadio and No. 16 Belén.
The leaders of Comuna 10 participated in this activity: Diego León Montoya, Carlos Velásquez Moreno and Ligia Gil Pérez; For the Speech Therapy program team, the following were present in physical and virtual form: Belkis Torres Osorio, Fernando Delprado, María Isabel Mazo, María Tatiana Ramírez, Maryluz Osorio, Sandy Meza and Natalia Hernández.
