As part of the commitment to the continuous improvement of the processes and services of María Cano, the Institution has obtained the renewal of the Quality Management System certificate under the international standard NTC ISO 9001:2015, with the following scope: Design, development and provision of higher education services, in the missionary axes of Teaching, Research and Extension for the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, face-to-face and virtual, at the Medellín, Cali, Neiva and Popayán campuses.
In February of this year, ICONTEC evaluated compliance with the requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 standard, verified the continuous improvement in all the processes and measured the progress in the consolidation of the quality culture, the result of which allowed obtaining the second renewal of the certificate until April 2025.
The following are the aspects highlighted by the auditor Ana María Suárez about María Cano:
- The co-creation spaces from the direction for the review of the projects allow to identify needs for improvement of the processes, greater follow-up and participation of an interdisciplinary team.
- The integrated attention to the student through the network of mentors that allows the student to camp one by one.
- The English language teacher training plan with Cambridge to improve the level until all language teachers are at C1 level.
- The creation of the internal control department in integration with planning, which has allowed comprehensive audits, with joint monitoring of action plans on a monthly basis.
- The induction process that was structured from Mariacanovirtual facilitating its access and control of the development of this activity.
- The Mariacanovirtual platform because it allows access to the material by students and coordinators as a verification mechanism.
- The growth in social networks, with an impact on queries, interactions on networks, timely response times of 94%, strategies for different types of population.
- The PQRSF portal – «Tell us» because an interface was made with the QF document, which allows monitoring of its management planning.
- The user satisfaction survey because it is being applied at different times of the year, the instrument was adjusted based on requirements identified from expectations, it was designed based on each area and their participation is encouraged with awareness campaigns.
- The purchase of the Kahoot license has made it possible to improve student interaction with virtual classes.
- The accompaniment from the Language Center to the faculties for the beginning of classes in English, through support in the translation of the subject and teacher training.
- Having more than 90% of teachers with a master’s degree; in such a way that with their acquired knowledge they can better contribute to the training of students.
- The focus of the 2016-2026 development plan; where its focus on the strategic lines «Academic Quality», «Relationship with the Environment» and «Institutional Management» allows establishing initiatives, goals, commitments and relevant actions for Institutional growth.
- The document «Master Physiotherapy Cali»; which supports the changes made to the program and each subject presents justifications associated with their relevance.
- The control over the realization of the practices; as well as the organization of their supports allowing traceability and access to the performance of the student and the advisor.
This demonstrates, once again, the commitment of the María Cano University Foundation to quality in all undergraduate, postgraduate, continuing education academic programs and in the services provided to the community at the Medellín, Cali, Neiva, Popayán and the Mariacanovirtual campus.
