- 6 mayo, 2022

The Academic Vice Chancellor of the María Cano University Foundation, Jorge Albeiro Herrera Builes, had the opportunity to participate as an expert in the Improvement Plan Project Strengthening Program, designed by UNESCO IESALC, which seeks to strengthen the institutional capacities of universities to develop improvement plan projects that allow the development of improvement processes in their academic-pedagogical management.
The work carried out by UNESCO has served to promote a transformation in agents and leaders of different public universities in Latin America, providing greater skills in the design and implementation of self-assessment plan projects, improvement and high quality processes, aimed at academic management- teaching of the institutions that train new professionals in the continent.
It is important to highlight that the Campus IESALC Higher Education for all people, is the first community in Latin America and the Caribbean, which allows acquiring the skills and digital capacities necessary for Higher Education Institutions, in order to contribute to the development of national higher education systems of the member states and their institutions, contributes to the development of capacities through training programs aimed at the analysis and development of better public and institutional policies. To this end, it develops awareness-raising and training materials and programs for governments and parliaments, universities and students, among others.
IESALC highlights the program on its website: «The ability to respond to the abrupt interruption of face-to-face activities now depends on a digital environment that many have had to get used to in a very short period of time to guarantee pedagogical continuity. Now is when it is It is necessary to strengthen specific models of improvement plans that allow Higher Education Institutions (IES) to establish a roadmap aimed at establishing the necessary mechanisms to guarantee the quality and relevance of a face-to-face, non-face-to-face and hybrid system.
The context of recovery must offer guidelines for the development of the academic and pedagogical skills of teachers, following in the footsteps of the most advanced universities, centers and support units for improving teaching quality. Our Institute has undertaken incessant work, in this sense, to guarantee that the processes of strengthening the academic and pedagogical capacities of teachers become essential pieces in the quality assurance and improvement plans».
Once again, the constant commitment of María Cano is evident with proposals, training, formation, dialogues, teamwork and union with other higher education institutions, in the search for excellence and coherence in all its academic, administrative, research and social projection.
