Speech therapy María Cano present in union spaces

Between September 7 and 10, 2022, in the city of Armenia, department of Quindío, different meetings of the country’s Speech Therapy guild were held, in which representatives of the María Cano University Foundation program participated. In the Extraordinary Assembly of the Colombian Association of Faculties of Speech Therapy – ASOFON, progress was made in the management processes, inherent to the monitoring and improvement of the quality of higher education, of the academic units that make up the Association. In this space, the 14 representatives of the institutions that have a current qualified registration of the program attended. The director Belkis Lorena Torres Osorio attended as a representative of the María Cano University Foundation and a member of the Academic Committee.
Likewise, the IX National Meeting of Speech Therapy Teachers and Directors was held, led by the ASOFON Academic Committee made up of the María Cano University Foundation, the Santiago de Cali University and the University of Pamplona; It is in this space that construction and reflection activities were developed regarding training practices and the strengthening of research in speech therapy. The meeting was attended by 72 people in virtual and face-to-face modalities. Representing María Cano were: the director Belkis Lorena Torres Osorio, the coordinators of the Neiva and Popayán branches, Laura Patricia Trujillo Lemos and Aura Angélica Espinel Católico; as well as the speech therapy practice coordinator, Diana Marcela Mosquera Acosta, the research professor María Tatiana Ramírez Lozano, and the Cali-based professor, Diala María Palomino Angarita. The Institution also had the virtual assistance of María Isabel Loaiza Hernández, coordinator of the Specialization in Comprehensive Care for Early Childhood, Sandy Paola Meza Martínez, coordinator of the Specialization in Audiology, and research professors Alejandra Arboleda Ramírez and Adriana Marcela Rojas Gil.
From September 8 to 10, the National Congress of Speech Therapy was held, organized by the Colombian Association of Speech Therapists – CCF and the Colombian Association of Speech Therapy – ASOFONO, with the aim of highlighting the talent and experience of Colombian speech therapists. On behalf of the María Cano University Foundation, the team of professors participated in workshops and poster presentations during the event.
Workshop:
- Role of communication and cognition in successful aging by Research Professor Alejandra Arboleda Ramírez.
- Approach of vocal objectives based on measurements of the maximum repetition (RM) by the research professor Andrés Fernando Delprado Aguirre.
- Physiology of exercise and vocal warm-up: implications for work with singers by research professor Andrés Fernando Delprado Aguirre.
- Experimental Prototype for Metalinguistic Skills in children from 4 to 7 years old by the research professor María Tatiana Ramírez Lozano.
Posters:
- Phonoaudiological approach to presbyphonia through the PhoRTE program: case study” with research professor Andrés Fernando Delprado Aguirre.
- Knowledge and perception of the role of the speech-language pathologist in the care of premature neonates with alterations in the suction-swallowing-breathing triad at the Bolivarian University Clinic in 2021 with research professor Miguel Antonio Vargas García.
Speech therapy is growth, consolidation and service for the welfare of the community.
