Excellent balance of the National and International Meeting on Audiology

The María Cano University Foundation, in collaboration with the Colombian School of Rehabilitation and the Ibero-American University Corporation, held the II National and International Meeting of Investigative Experiences in Audiology, with the aim of generating a space for the dissemination of investigative experiences, through of the socialization of the research work of students and professionals in the areas of the auditory and vestibular system. 126 attendees from the cities of Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Neiva, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Yopal and Paipa, in addition to countries such as Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Mexico, Costa Rica, participated in the academic activity.
The Meeting was aimed at speech therapists and audiologists in training and in practice in the field of audiology and other people interested in knowing the research trends, advances and challenges of the role of the speech therapist specialist in audiology, to present and socialize the development of new proposals. of research that cover technological and scientific fields, which meet the current needs and challenges in the area and of patients, ratifying the importance of the work carried out by these professionals and specialists for society.
The event for the dissemination of investigative experiences took place virtually on Thursday, October 20, and had the following axes of participation: Sound, vibration and acoustics; Audiology and work; Audiology and communication; and Technological immersion in audiology.
The main speakers were:
- Doctor Carlos Pereira Vargas: Master in Audiology and Master in University Teaching.
- Dr. Juan Carlos Olmo: Master in Audiology from the Santa Paula University and Master in University Education from the University of Sciences and Art of Costa Rica.
- Dr. Brian R. Earl: Associate Professor and director of EARLAB, Master’s in Audiology from the University of Arizona, with a Ph.D. and Post-Doctorate in Audiology and Neuroscience from the University of Kansas.
- Dr. José Luís Anabalón Barria: ENT Medical Technologist Los Andes Clinic Otolaryngology Service, Santiago de Chile; Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Chile with the title of Medical Technologist with a Specialty in Otorhinolaryngology; works as an ENT Medical Technologist. At the Universidad de Los Andes Clinic, Santiago de Chile and associate professor at the Universidad de los Andes, for Medicine and Speech Therapy careers.
In this way, the Speech Therapy program and the Specialization in Audiology of the María Cano University Foundation ratify its leadership, tradition and reputation, nationally and internationally, in training and updating knowledge in this important area of health.
