The vice-chancellors, Jorge Albeiro Herrera Builes and Carlos Julio Escobar Noreña, carry out important relationship actions in Mexico with a view to providing greater opportunities for study, research and extension to the university community of Medellín, Cali, Neiva, Popayán and Mariacanovirtual. At the Technological Institute of Sonora – ITSON, they signed an agreement, aimed at developing joint projects in areas and disciplines by mutual agreement. They were received by Dr. Jesús Héctor Hernández López, Rector of the Institution, to define the commitments assumed in the search for the development of joint teaching and research projects; the exchange of students, researchers and collaborators; as well as support for collaborative work for teaching, research and cultural activities, postgraduate courses, doctorates, publications, books and other teaching materials, which allow the creation of programs, academic and technical projects in the fields of research, innovation, links with society, pre-professional internships, professional training, carrying out projects of mutual interest, advice and consultancies, benefiting the comprehensive development of the organization and its work.

Similarly, the Academic Vice Chancellor, Jorge Albeiro Herrera Builes, visited the Universidad de Oriente, Puebla in Mexico, with the aim of continuing to strengthen the cooperation ties between both institutions, with the renewal of the signing of a cooperation framework agreement and a specific student mobility agreement in order to positively impact both university communities.

Over the years, thanks to the existing agreements, the María Cano community has been able to access International Academic Missions at the Universidad de Oriente, exchange of teachers for the presentation of papers and student exchange. Universidad de Oriente was founded in 1996, thanks to the vision and leadership of those who make up the direction of the Institution, thinking of a far-reaching project that benefits different social groups with high-quality educational levels. Currently, it has its main domicile in Puebla and has offices in the cities of Veracruz, Coatzacoalcos, Poza Rica and Cancún.
