Professor Fernando Delprado Aguirre, from the Speech Pathology program at the Medellín campus, participated as a representative of the María Cano University Foundation in the II international seminar on the professional practice of speech therapy 2022-2023 organized by the Catholic University of Valencia – Spain. The professor shared in his webinar particular aspects of the practice of speech therapy in Colombia, addressing social, labor and sociological aspects of the profession in the country. Students from the organizing institution and speakers from Spain, France and Italy participated in the academic activity who, in turn, shared aspects of the profession in their respective countries. In this way, María Cano promotes spaces for the exchange of knowledge and ideas from an intercultural perspective, with the aim of training students with a glocal projection. Speech therapy is the treatment and correction of disorders that affect the voice, pronunciation and oral and written language, through re-education techniques.

The Catholic University of Valencia «San Vicente Mártir» is a private and Catholic university, based in Valencia, Valencian Community (Spain) and with campuses in Valencia, Godella, Burjasot, Torrente, Alcira and Játiva. 27 Bachelor’s degrees, 18 Double Degrees and more than 100 Master’s and Postgraduate degrees are taught there. Participation in the academic event promotes recognition of the María Cano University Foundation at an international level and strengthens ties of academic collaboration between institutions that train speech therapists in different latitudes of the world.
