The fifth semester students of the Physiotherapy program of the María Cano University Foundation, Neiva campus, from the Neuromuscular I subject, had the opportunity to participate in an inter-institutional academic meeting with Professor César Eduardo Pabón Rozo, attached to the Physiotherapy program of the University from Pamplona. Through the Online International Learning COIL strategy, they were able to share knowledge about Parkinson’s health condition, a neurodegenerative disease that leads to major complications and affects the quality of life of people who present it.
In the same way, the role of physiotherapist and health service professionals that allow a comprehensive approach was discussed: accompanying families in the different states of the disease, providing the patient with the necessary tools so that he can preserve and train the physical capacities, cognitive and emotional aspects that will enable him to be functional for a longer time minimizing the impact of the disease.
The meeting was under the guidance of Professor Mónica Vannesa Chanaga Gelves, Master in Neurorehabilitation; The activity allowed the students to generate discussion spaces that would help them strengthen their knowledge and an approach to professional practice.
