General director of Sapiencia visits

The rector of the María Cano University Foundation, Hugo Alberto Valencia Porras, received a visit from Mr. Carlos Alberto Chaparro Sánchez, general director of the Medellín Post-Secondary Education Agency. At the meeting, different aspects related to District Agreement 55 of 2022 were analyzed, which creates and implements the Zero Enrollment program and unifies and enhances the access and permanence programs in Post-Secondary Education of the District of Medellín and other provisions are issued. During the talk and harmonious dialogue, the academic leaders discussed the willingness to join inter-institutional efforts to materialize the purposes of this regulation, and, in this sense, ensure that more and more people in the capital of Antioquia can access educational opportunities and with them, transform their lives.
The Post-Secondary Education Agency of Medellín – Sapiencia, is a Special Administrative Unit of the Municipal order, with legal status, administrative, financial, budgetary autonomy and its own assets, linked to the Mayor’s office, which has the missionary purpose of leading the formulation, implementation , monitoring and / or evaluation of policies, plans, programs and projects for the consolidation of Post-secondary Education in the municipality of Medellín, promoting, within the framework of the principle of autonomy, that the entities provide the public service of Post-secondary Education in an integral way , complementary, with quality and relevance, according to the needs and demands for the development of the municipality, the department and the country.
For this reason, and in accordance with the projects of the district administration, Sapiencia convenes, dialogues and articulates the actors to generate synergies and concur in the promotion of access and permanence in Post-Secondary Education; fully managing the municipal or private funds and resources created and earmarked for that purpose; prioritizing the municipal resources administered for the Institutions of Higher Education of the Municipality of Medellín and the vulnerable population of the city.
This is how the María Cano University Foundation, in accordance with its policy of social projection and commitment to higher education, analyzes the work to be carried out, so that it continues to contribute to the professional training of the community, as a way of generating collective well-being. , progress and social development.
