Mariacanovirtual winner at the #LatamDigital 2023 Awards

A total of 19 Latin American countries participated with a total of 1,370 digital transformation projects and only 270 in different categories were chosen as the best among participants from Colombia, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. In addition, the USA, Venezuela, Brazil, Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Spain, Honduras, Nicaragua and Guatemala were present. The María Cano University Foundation applied in the category «Best digital strategy educational institution, with the project: Gamified classrooms in a virtual learning environment» of the Mariacanovirtual campus, being chosen as the winner at the gala that took place at the Club El Nogal de Bogotá, the night of Friday June 23.
It is important to highlight that the #LatamDigital awards, in this tenth version, were carried out by the Interlat organization and are one of the most important and most recognized events in the digital industry in Latin America and the Caribbean, through 9 strategic pillars : Digital Government, Digital Tourism, Digital Security, Electronic Commerce, Business Data Intelligence, Digital Entrepreneurship, Digital Transformation, Digital Marketing and Digital Education, where María Cano was chosen as the winner in the Digital Education Pillar, Best Institution Digital Strategy category Educativa, where it competed, in the final, with institutions such as the Asturias University Corporation, the Comfanorte Foundation for Higher Studies, Del Rosario University and the National University of Colombia.
The Gamified Classrooms strategy is applied to the induction course of the Mariacanovirtual virtual learning environment, starting in the second semester of 2022, where students must solve activities and challenges to obtain the recognition provided by the Institution’s virtual environment. In addition, the performance and acceptance statistics were presented by the students who have found in the proposal a different, agile, inclusive, motivating and challenging way to use the classrooms in Mariacanovirtual.
For the head of the Mariacanovirtual Campus, Claudia Patricia Vásquez Lopera, «this recognition means an opportunity for visibility in the national and international arena of what progress has been made in the transformation of virtuality in the institution and the possibility of showing innovative proposals in line with with the trends of digital education”.
The María Cano University Foundation advances in the positioning of its virtuality proposal, framed in parameters of quality, innovation and relevance for the new generations who see and recognize the benefits of this outstanding way of accessing higher education without barriers.
