Students from the Speech Therapy program at the María Cano University Foundation in the city of Popayán, trained pregnant mothers and early childhood mothers in the identification of factors at the motor, language, socio-emotional and perceptual cognitive levels that are affecting pregnancy. in pregnant women and development in boys and girls from zero to three years of age.

This work was carried out with the objective of promoting the healthy and optimal development of the fetus during pregnancy and of the baby during its first years of life, supporting the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of the baby, during pregnancy and in the first years of life. of existence, so that it grows healthily and reaches its maximum potential.

This pre-practice was carried out at the facilities of the María Cano University Foundation in the capital of the department of Cauca, with the fifth semester students of this program of the Faculty of Health Sciences, in the subject “Development and stimulation of language «, in collaboration with the service unit «Mi rebaño del ICBF Alfonso López» of the city of Popayán, where the activities were developed based on training mothers in intrauterine stimulation and early stimulation and ended with an observation of the development of the child at a motor, language, socio-emotional and cognitive perceptual level from 0 to 3 years, which made it possible to determine the children’s development and possible difficulties.

Once again, the social commitment of the María Cano university community to the well-being of the inhabitants of southwestern Colombia is evident, providing knowledge to accompany society.
