Psychology present at ASCOFAPSI meeting

The director of the psychology program of the María Cano University Foundation, Medellín headquarters, Juliana Torres Duque, participated in the meeting of directors of psychology programs of the Colombian Association of Faculties of Psychology – ASCOFAPSI, in which highly important topics were analyzed for the academic community, including the holding of the 8th International Congress of Psychology of the FIUC, where the importance of the Institution’s participation in the activity that will take place in March 2024 in the city of Medellín was discussed. which becomes an outstanding opportunity for internationalization and collaboration at a regional, national level
and global.
During the work of the academic professionals, the advantages and proposals of the professional programs offered by María Cano were analyzed, in the in-person and virtual modalities, which consolidates the institutional work for the benefit of the community. Furthermore, at the meeting different aspects were analyzed for the continued positioning of psychology in different sectors of society:
- ASCOFAPSI projects, such as the so-called «Parfriend» that supports the review of documentation presented by the Ministry of National Education, strengthening educational quality in psychology and evaluation with a view to constant improvement.
- Participation in academic networks that allow access to the laboratory network.
- Holding the assembly in the city of Santa Marta, projected for the month of March 2024 to elect members of the ASCOFAPSI board of directors, with restrictions for accredited programs.
- Bill 1071, on the possibility of creating community psychological clinics in universities and its impact on university and financial autonomy.
- Alliance with APA: The alliance between the American Psychological Association – APA and ASCOFAPSI was highlighted to strengthen the internationalization of the different psychology programs, favoring academic communities.
- Opportunities for future events, such as an academic mission in Washington – USA, a conference in Portugal and a student meeting in Havana.
This is how the organized work of psychology programs is evidenced and ratified to advance quality processes that generate greater quality for students and future professionals, while generating options for care and social support.
