The Language Center of the María Cano University Foundation closed the “Germina la Semilla Bilingüe” project through which trainers from public educational institutions in the district of Medellín were trained. A total of 570 participants were certified in English language and teaching methodologies, as well as another 100 teachers received certification for the APTIS for teachers exam.

This work, carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Education of the capital of Antioquia, began in the month of August of this year 2023, with 180 hours of total training for the teaching course and 32 hours of preparation for the presentation of the test, which took place at the María Cano facilities.

Among the topics discussed with the beneficiaries, all dedicated to the academy in the city of Medellín, are: new information technologies, linguistic and bilingualism policies, CLIL – Content and Language Integrated Learning, strategies for teaching foreign languages ​​and skills to communicate in another language, among others.

The participants, through this articulated work, also accessed the First International Bilingualism Congress that was held in the month of October, at the facilities of the Teacher Innovation Center – Mova, where the quality and relevance of the training received to contribute to the projection and internationalization of the capital of Antioquia and the benefited communities, where María Cano stood out for being an ally of the Ministry of Education in this academic and training project.

For the Language Center, in this way, an experience was generated that achieved the linking of a qualified team, from the administrative and academic part, while the participants in the training highlighted the institutional work through words such as: discipline, order, coordination and commitment to the formation of the public sector, which shows the capabilities developed for future actions where María Cano can work with the State for the benefit of the community.

Within the framework of the work carried out, an immersion in English and teaching methodologies was carried out at the La Rondalla Events Center, where the progress with the work carried out was tested.

From now on, spaces will be created for certified people to come to the Institution and be part of the new processes that will be led at the regional and national level, in the headquarters where María Cano is present.
