The María Cano University Foundation in alliance with the Colombian Association of Higher Education Institutions – ACIET increasingly consolidates its positioning at an international level by virtue of the multilateral interaction that is fostered with various actors. Taking into account the above, the rector of the María Cano University Foundation and National President of ACIET was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Network of Latin American and Caribbean Associations of Private Universities – REALCUP.

REALCUP was founded in 2016, with support from IESALC-UNESCO. It is currently made up of 13 associations of private universities from 12 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean; Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and the Dominican Republic, bringing together almost 1000 universities that represent almost all private universities in the Region.

The network promotes common action towards quality educational policies and systems in the region, with respect to the autonomy and social contexts of each country, facilitating the internationalization of higher education institutions; collaborating to improve the quality of teaching, research, innovation, transfer and linkage with the needs of society; seeking the integration of private initiative in addressing the educational needs of the Latin American and Caribbean region, viewing itself as a reference network for collaborative action in Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean, as a platform for the development of common strategies of the associations of higher education institutions that comprise it, providing practical responses to future social challenges.
