At the María Cano University Foundation, Neiva headquarters, the educational practice of the students in the seventh semester of the Speech Therapy program began, with the accompaniment of the teacher and speech therapist, Nury Consuelo González Segura, at the Ceinar Educational Institution, Renacimiento headquarters. In the educational field under the framework of educational practice II, speech therapists in training will be pioneers in designing and executing plans that contribute to communicative well-being in early childhood, childhood and adolescence through actions to prevent communication disorders, promote communicative health in school population; with a critical and interdisciplinary look at the individual and environmental variables that influence learning and academic performance; impacting the city’s population by providing coverage and access to health and education services.

With this work, the future professionals of María Cano begin to share their knowledge with different population groups to contribute to community well-being, the growth of health coverage and, above all, to deliver social projection work that generates better living conditions for the inhabitants of all areas of the department of Huila, where the speech therapist is the ideal professional for its approach due to the scientific and profound knowledge of human communication as a sphere of personal and social development. Its actions are aimed at identifying the communication needs of the population, evaluation, diagnosis and intervention of communication disorders and alterations in the educational, social welfare, health and business sectors; He is a manager of projects and research that contribute to the development of the individual, communities and the profession.
