Academic mobility that transforms
- 25 noviembre, 2025
National academic mobility continues to stand out as a key opportunity to expand knowledge and better understand the diverse educational realities of the country. In this context, Speech-Language Therapy students from the Popayán campus carried out an academic visit to the Institute for Blind and Deaf Children in Cali, an experience that allowed them to explore first-hand the processes that promote inclusion for children with visual and hearing disabilities.

During the visit, the students observed adapted pedagogical strategies, augmentative and alternative communication systems, the use of Colombian Sign Language (LSC), the braille system, and various assistive technologies. These practical encounters enriched their understanding of how inclusive education is implemented across different regions, highlighting the importance of recognizing the cultural, social, and pedagogical particularities of each context.

The activity encouraged deep reflection on the sensory-perceptual components involved in learning, the curricular accommodations required, and the value of interdisciplinary collaboration in intervention processes. It also reaffirmed the role of academic mobility as an essential tool for strengthening professional training, promoting the exchange of knowledge, and expanding awareness of the diverse educational realities that coexist across Colombia.
