Students Promote Mental Health Awareness Across the University Community
- 17 marzo, 2026
As part of institutional well-being strategies, students from Fundación Universitaria María Cano led an awareness initiative aimed at promoting mental health care within the university community, strengthening a culture of mutual support and peer accompaniment.
The initiative was developed through the “Te quiero en la U” program, led by psychologist Andrea Vanegas Montaño, in collaboration with Student Welfare Services and the course Public Health and Mental Health Intervention Strategies, taught by professor María Helena Audor González, integrating academic training with socially impactful actions.
This initiative allowed students to analyze the emotional realities faced by many university students and to design intervention strategies with a preventive and community-based approach. Through various awareness activities, participants encouraged spaces for reflection on emotional well-being, active listening, and peer support.
The event also highlighted the support provided by the institutional program, connected to the emotional support network, a space created to guide and assist students facing personal, emotional, or academic challenges. The central message was clear: no one has to face their challenges alone.
Through initiatives like this, Fundación Universitaria María Cano reaffirms its commitment to promoting mental health as a key component of comprehensive well-being, fostering more empathetic, supportive, and emotionally aware educational environments.
