Biometric Fair Strengthens Security in ICETEX Procedures for Students
- 10 abril, 2026
At the Medellín campus of Fundación Universitaria María Cano, the ICETEX Biometric Fair was held, a session aimed at students with active loans from the entity, focused on strengthening identity verification processes and enhancing security in administrative procedures.
This initiative is part of the implementation of biometric verification, a technology that enables direct identity validation, reducing the risk of intermediaries, fraud, and identity theft. This process ensures secure and reliable access to ICETEX services and communication channels, benefiting both students and their families.
Biometric verification is intended for users over 18 years of age, as well as for the legal guardians of minor beneficiaries. Users must complete an initial biometric registration, which will allow for easier authentication in future procedures.
This process is part of ICETEX’s territorial expansion strategy, aimed at increasing coverage nationwide by establishing service points at higher education institutions. Through these sessions, users complete the enrollment process, including the registration of their signature and fingerprint, as a key step toward institutional digital transformation.
Enrollment brigades have already been implemented in cities such as Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, Barranquilla, Pereira, and Armenia, among others, and will continue to expand progressively across the country. Additionally, since December 2025, this process has been carried out in 11 ICETEX in-person Experience Centers (CEP), further strengthening access for users.
The activity at María Cano was led by the Institutional Well-being Office, through the Socioeconomic Promotion Coordination, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to supporting students in their financial processes and ensuring secure access to educational services.
