Clinical Analysis Strengthens Education in Speech Therapy

As part of an academic exercise aimed at strengthening clinical reasoning and evidence-based decision-making, ninth-semester students from the Speech Therapy program presented and analyzed a highly complex clinical case involving neurological sequelae secondary to a traumatic brain injury.
During the academic session, participants conducted a detailed review of clinical findings, identified risk factors, analyzed the role of cranial nerves, and discussed intervention strategies from an interdisciplinary perspective, strengthening competencies related to critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and decision-making in complex healthcare settings.
These types of activities allow students to transfer theoretical knowledge to scenarios closely linked to professional practice, fostering learning processes that integrate biological, functional, and social dimensions of healthcare while contributing to the development of essential skills for clinical practice.
The activity, carried out with faculty guidance, reaffirms the commitment of the Speech Therapy program at Fundación Universitaria María Cano to comprehensive, critical, and humanized education, focused on preparing professionals capable of responding to the complex needs of diverse clinical contexts.
Through experiences like this, the Institution continues to strengthen learning spaces that connect theory with practice, promoting the development of professionals with sound clinical judgment, analytical skills, and a strong commitment to comprehensive healthcare.
