Bilingualism that Transforms: A Dialogue for Education
- 1 octubre, 2026
Fundación Universitaria María Cano participated in the 4th International Congress on Bilingualism: Transcending Language: Knowledge and Realities, an academic event that brought together educators, researchers, educational institutions, and international experts to reflect on the challenges and opportunities of language education in today’s world.
Held on September 30 at MOVA, the Congress promoted the exchange of knowledge and experiences related to bilingualism, multilingual education, internationalization, and innovative methodologies for language teaching and learning. The participation of experts from Colombia, Brazil, Norway, and the United States enriched the discussions and provided diverse perspectives on educational processes in global contexts.

One of the key takeaways from the event was the understanding that bilingualism goes beyond mastering a second language. Academic discussions highlighted its connection to culture, identity, global citizenship, interculturality, and social transformation, positioning language learning as a powerful tool for knowledge construction and critical thinking.
The experiences shared during the Congress also emphasized the importance of contextualizing language teaching, strengthening pedagogical innovation, and recognizing the strategic role of educators in creating meaningful learning experiences. In addition, participants explored how bilingualism can foster inclusion, internationalization, and new opportunities within educational communities.
For María Cano, with campuses in Medellín, Cali, Neiva, and Popayán, participation in events such as this reinforces its commitment to comprehensive education, internationalization, and knowledge generation. These academic cooperation spaces contribute to strengthening educational practices and preparing citizens capable of engaging effectively in both local and global environments.
