From the classrooms of María Cano to transforming lives
- 2 octubre, 2026
Andrea Cortés Osorio, a 2007 graduate of the Physical Therapy program at Fundación Universitaria María Cano, Cali campus, has built a professional career spanning nearly 20 years, shaped by her commitment to neurorehabilitation and, particularly, her work with children. During her time at María Cano, Andrea discovered the areas in which she wanted to develop her professional practice. A defining experience was her internship in the Professional Development course, which gave her an opportunity to become familiar with professional practice and discover her strong interest in neurorehabilitation.
Her career includes 13 years of experience at Centro de Rehabilitación Casa Madre Canguro Alfa in Cali and three years at Fundación Especializada en Desarrollo Infantil (FEDI) in Palmira, where she strengthened her knowledge and experience in processes related to pediatric care and child development.
Teaching also became an important part of her professional journey. Between 2018 and 2020, she worked as a faculty member at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and later, from 2024 to 2025, at Escuela Nacional del Deporte, where she shared her knowledge and professional experience with new generations of healthcare professionals.
Today, her story reflects how a vocation can grow and evolve over time. From her first experiences at María Cano to the clinical and academic settings where she has worked, Andrea has found in physical therapy a way to bring together knowledge, empathy, and a commitment to the well-being of children.
Graduates Who Transform is also about recognizing the stories that begin in María Cano classrooms and continue to make an impact across different professional settings. Andrea’s journey reflects the purpose of an education that supports graduates as they discover their path, develop their talents, and contribute to social transformation.
