At the Neiva branch, collaborative work is being carried out to prevent gender-based violence
- 19 octubre, 2026
Fundación Universitaria María Cano, Neiva campus, is strengthening its regional leadership through its participation in the Amatista Network, an interinstitutional initiative focused on primary care, guidance, and support for victims of gender-based violence. Within this framework, the institution led the participation of the Huila University Network, reaffirming its commitment to protecting rights, preventing violence, and promoting community well-being under Departmental Ordinance 020 of 2023.
During the event, María Cano brought its services closer to the community through hearing screenings, cardiovascular risk assessments, and information about its academic programs. These activities demonstrate how higher education can contribute to health promotion, prevention, and social support within the region.

The event also included a technical roundtable with representatives from the Municipal Mayor’s Office, the National Police, the Attorney General’s Office, Inder, the Educational District Office, and the municipality’s Women’s Council. Participants discussed coordinated strategies to strengthen comprehensive support and align efforts to assist people who need guidance and care.
The institution’s participation was led by Professor Viviana Caicedo Delgado, María Cano’s representative to the Amatista Network, who supported this collaborative effort involving academia, government agencies, and the community. Through these initiatives, María Cano reaffirms its commitment to cooperation, the prevention of gender-based violence, and the creation of safer, more equitable, and inclusive environments.
