Services, collections, borrowing policies

Access to information services and resources are ruled by the internal regulations of the Foundation contained in Agreement 105, 2004: Regulation of the Information Center and Didactic Aids, which offer services such as:

  • Development of bibliographies: Bibliographic compilation on a specific topic existing in the CIAD, according the different dependencies requests.
  • Borrowing to your door: Allows users to borrow up to 6 materials that will alternate according to the case; Books, Magazines, and other documents that belong to the Collections..
  • Borrowing of teaching aids: Technological and audiovisual resources for teachers and tutors.
  • Borrowing Internally: The user is provided with different materials that make up the collections, so that they can be used inside the CIAD (consultation in Room)
  • Borrowing for Classes: Users are provided with different materials that make up the collections, so that they can be used in classrooms. Leaving a picture ID required. (The reference collection is excepted)
  • Inter-librarian Borrowing: It is carried out between the different information units of the city with which the agreement has previously been established. The user will make use this service through written authorization that has to be taken to the unit in which the loan is requested.
  • Reference: The user is provided with guidance to search, access and obtain information, either personally or by telephone.
  • Material Reservation: The user reserves the materials required for borrowing personally, by telephone or email: gloria.cordoba@fumc.edu.coflor.londono@fumc.edu.coraquel.benitez@fumc.edu.co
    The teachers-tutors must do reservations for equipment and didactic aids as support for their classes, on Thursdays.
  • Reading room: Physical space offered by the CIAD for internal consultation of existing collections.
  • Databases and Internet: It enables the search for information online, it is exclusively for the use of the university community, the estimated time for consultation is one hour per user, and the use of this service is solely for academic purposes.
  • User Training: The Library offers induction courses to students and teachers. These courses are taught at the beginning of each academic semester, so that users know the available information resources and make appropriate use of them.

The bibliographic fund of the Library is made up of the following collections:

  • General: Composed of general or specialized works in different areas of knowledge, including textbooks, research, research reports, essays, conference proceedings, seminars, among others.
  • Reference: Integrated by dictionaries, atlases, encyclopedias, guides, manuals, yearbooks, and directories, among others, all of which enable quick queries.
  • Reserve Collection: Conformed by different books that are grouped together by their extensive demand, acquisition and cost.
  • Dissertations and internship reports: Works that have been written by the students of the Institution as a requirement to accomplish a professional degree. (Internal consultation, its reproduction is not allowed – Law 23 of 1982. Copyright).
  • Library Newspaper: Conformed by serial publications such as: magazines, bulletins, memories of institutions, reports series, annual publications, series of proceedings, press, among others).
  • Audiovisuals and teaching aids: CD ROM and DVD, Recorders
  • Electronic and Digital Collection: Integrated by specialized and multidisciplinary databases of local and remote access, through guides and accompanying material in digital format of collections and printed books.

Fines generated due to delay in returning the bibliographic material

Note: The Reference collection is only removed from the room for reproduction purposes (Photocopy) for half an hour, after this time, a fine equivalent to the Reserve collection is generated ($ 8,100)

RESERVE COLLECTION: $ 8,100 (per book and day of default)

PROCEDURE FOR FINES PAYMENT

For payment in Bank:

For the payment of fines, head to the BBVA Bank (Savings Account No. 558814851), or the GNB Sudameris Bank (Savings Account No. 90630010260) with the deposit receipt filled out (Collection Form); in the reference field: user’s ID card.

Once the payment has been made as a FINE, submit the corresponding receipt at the FUMC Treasury department, then go to the Library and hand over the voucher to the official so that the fine can be withdrawn from the system.

For the payment at the Institution Treasury (Only with Debit or Credit Card):

* All cards are accepted, except Diners card

For fines payment at the Treasury department, present the deposit receipt filled out (Collection Form); Once the payment is made and has gone through, go to the Library and submit the voucher to the official so that the fine can be withdrawn from the system.
