Specialization in Public Health begins

With sixteen students, the Popayán headquarters of María Cano will begin its first cohort of the Specialization in Public Health, which has SNIES code No. 109008 and Qualified Registry No. 016211 of December 18, 2019, granted by the Ministry of National Education. Graduate students will have their induction process on Thursday, August 13, to start with classes on Friday, August 14 of the same month.
The academic development of the program will begin with the subject Introduction in Public Health that will be guided by the teacher Rubén Darío Gómez, Doctor in Public Health from the University of Alicante, Master in Public Health from the University of Antioquia, Doctor of the University of Antioquia and Emeritus Researcher at Colciencias. The group of students is made up of professionals from various areas, especially in the health field, with extensive experience in the field.

The Specialization in Public Health focuses training on the well-being of population groups, allowing the health professional a situational analysis from a global and contextualized vision. In this sense, the Public Health Specialist of the María Cano University Foundation will have competencies for the evaluation of the individual and collective health situation, the formulation, management and implementation of public health policies and interventions in public health, according to the jurisdiction local, national and international from various SGSSS organizations and intersectoral actions in the family and social environment complementing curative efforts, with a significant and growing number of actions to promote and maintain health.
