- 28 septiembre, 2020

The María Cano University Foundation, through the LEAMOS Center for Academic Reading and Writing and Institutional Wellbeing, is preparing to participate in the third version of Popayán Ciudad Libro 2020. For this year, the academic and cultural event will be held for the first time in virtual modality between October 26 and November 1. Its objective is to promote the reading and writing habit of the participants, allowing to enhance critical thinking, basic and civic skills, leadership and the formation of audiences. In the same way, it is expected to benefit different institutions by favoring impact and social projection, in aspects such as marketing and internationalization. During the fair there will be activities such as workshops, conferences, talks, book presentations, recitals, exhibitions and thematic concerts.
Popayán Ciudad Libro is led by the University of Cauca and supported by the Autonomous University Corporation of Cauca, the Popayán University Foundation, Unicomfacauca, the Colegio Mayor, the Ministry of Culture, the Government of Cauca and the Mayor’s Office of Popayán. For the first time, the María Cano University Foundation is articulated with this project, through the Center for Academic Reading and Writing and Institutional Wellbeing, integrating itself into the preferred agenda for 2020.
LEAMOS will be part of this event through a discussion that will have the participation of the winners, juries and organizers of the different short story contests held at the institutional level in 2019 and 2020. The panelists will share their experiences in the management, direction and creation as active subjects in the events held.
It is expected to impact the population in general, through enriching experiences that allow raising awareness about the importance of reading and writing as social practices that contribute personally, academically and professionally, in an educational and recreational environment. In addition, the story contest for the second academic period of 2020 will be launched, organized by Leamos in partnership with Institutional Wellbeing.
The discussion will take place on October 1 at 4:00 p.m. streaming.
