Cali advances united by the reactivation of higher education

The municipal administration of Cali met with the directors of Higher Education Institutions of the capital of Valle del Cauca to organize and coordinate the return to controlled academic activities as of Tuesday, October 13. The summons was attended by representatives of the Universities Libre, ICESI, Cooperativa de Colombia, San Buenaventura, Unicatólica, Santiago de Cali, Autónoma de Occidente, María Cano University Foundation, National School of Sports University Institution, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and the Corporation for Integration and Development of Education in the South West of Colombia, Cidesco that brings together eleven more institutions.
The pact «For a Cali with higher education and united by life» is led by the secretaries of Health, Education and Economic Development, who expressed their commitment to the sector to accompany HEIs in this new stage that will reactivate education and economy in a safe and preventive way in the midst of the pandemic caused by covid-19, where teamwork, responsible, with biosecurity measures and with a schedule that respects alternation will be essential for the reactivation of the sector.
During the signing of the pact, Mr. William Rodríguez Sánchez, Secretary of Education of the city, stated that “The responsibility of the students is first of all to maintain physical distance, to minimize the exchange of documents, to guarantee biosecurity in terms of of all the elements of personal protection, but above all of being spokesmen for new normalities. »
In the city of Cali, the return to academic activities in higher education institutions will be carried out in a progressive, analyzed and detailed manner, respecting the modality of alternation initially with the first semester students of the different academic programs. With the signature, the alternation in higher education institutions is officially opened with a capacity of 10% of all students and 30% of the total occupation of the facilities in the capital of the department.
