A contribution to inclusive education in María Cano
- 17 febrero, 2021

The Institution has implemented different strategies around inclusive education, which is an objective of all higher education institutions. One of these experiences is part of a research exercise developed by the research professors Jhon Fredy Quintero Uribe, and Adriana Marcela Rojas Gil, assigned to the Speech Therapy program belonging to the Fonotec research group, and the research professor Esperanza María González Marín of the program of Psychology and member of the research group Psique y Sociedad; which was recently published as a book chapter: «Inclusive practices in the classroom from the perspective of university students and professors.»
The chapter is part of the book «Revolution in Training and Training for the XXI Century» published by the Editorial Instituto Antioqueño de Investigación in 2020. The work in question is an academic work that represents great importance for María Cano as it contributes to the conceptualization of a policy of inclusion and the resignification of teaching practices as enabling practices, which contribute to thinking about the university as an institution that provides educational opportunities for everyone and not just for a few.
This work is of greater importance when taking into account that Colombia is considered a multiethnic and multicultural country; whose diversity of population groups, represented in young people from different places, seek university education to transform their lives, the lives of their families and to contribute in some way to the development of their regions. Therefore, María Cano is seen as an inclusive higher education institution that has students who come from different regions and who possess unique individual characteristics.
