Academic immersion in the atlantic coast: Training that connects the world
- 21 julio, 2025

The Fundación Universitaria María Cano continues to establish itself as a leader in continuous education, with an innovative academic approach and a strong commitment to the professional development of its students. On this occasion, 21 students from the Diploma in Innovation and New Challenges of National Physical Distribution (DFN) and International Physical Distribution (DFI) 2025-2 began an academic and business immersion in the Colombian Atlantic Coast. From July 21 to 25, they will visit the region’s most important ports, including Barranquilla, Cartagena, and Santa Marta, where they will observe the economic, political, and cultural dynamics that drive international trade in Colombia.
The diploma, which aims to identify models of innovation and new business, seeks to strengthen the academic formation of the participants, providing practical tools on how to place products where customers require them in the shortest time and with the greatest efficiency. The students will be accompanied by Professor Carlos Mario Londoño Toro, who will guide visits to companies, ports, and entities such as DIAN, so that the students can understand the importance of logistics and physical distribution both nationally and internationally.
This program stands out for its focus on innovation and the close relationship between teaching, outreach, and research. Through academic and business visits, the participants will experience firsthand how the Colombian Caribbean ports, such as Barranquilla, Cartagena, and Santa Marta, have become key points for the country’s imports and exports, driving the economic and technological development of the region.
The Fundación Universitaria María Cano takes pride in such programs, which not only allow students to live unique experiences at a national level but also promote the internationalization of education. Previous internships have taken students to destinations such as Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Canada, Turkey, and Panama, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to globalized, high-quality education. With this diploma, the institution continues to open doors to new opportunities for its students to become leaders in logistics and international distribution.
