Academic strengthening in Cali and Neiva

The María Cano University Foundation received a verification visit to assess quality conditions for the qualified registration of the Physical Activity program, offered in on-site modality and developed at the Cali and Neiva campuses. This visit, part of Colombia’s higher education quality assurance process, was conducted by a team of academic peers designated by the Ministry of National Education.

Dr. Santiago Adolfo Arboleda Franco, Ph.D. in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, Master’s in Education with an emphasis on Sport Physiology, and Bachelor’s in Physical Education and Health. He currently serves as an Associate Professor at the University of Valle. Among his distinctions are a Cum Laude doctoral thesis, an honorable mention in the 4th National Award for Research in Physical Education granted by Coldeportes in 2009, and the 2nd National Research Award from the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) – AMEDCO, 2004.

Mg. José Gabriel Gómez Castaño, Bachelor’s in Physical Education and Recreation, Specialist in Administrative Management and Direction, and Master’s in Education with an emphasis on Motor Skills and Learning. His professional background includes leadership as Deputy Secretary of Sports for the Government of Caldas, where he has promoted integration between education, sports, and public policy.
The visit represents a key milestone in the consolidation of the Physical Activity program, which aims to respond effectively to local needs, promote healthy lifestyles, and train professionals with high scientific, ethical, and social competencies.
María Cano continues to strengthen its academic offerings with programs aligned with national and international trends, reaffirming its commitment to excellence and social impact in the regions where it operates.
