The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation announced the final list of researchers from The Maria Cano designated for the role of nationally recognized peer reviewer. The announcement was made after the profiles corresponding to the respective CvLACs were collated with the support of the research groups and in accordance with the final results of call N. 833, which were presented to the country on December 6th, 2019, when such designations were made visible from the ScienTI platform.
The designation of a recognized peer reviewer is based on Resolution N. 1037 of 2014 of MINCIENCIAS, which establishes the conditions for the evaluation process of programs, projects and other activities in Science, Technology and Innovation that require evaluation by peer reviewers. The resolution contemplates as peer reviewers those researchers who obtained recognition by MINCIENCIAS in any of the categories (junior, associate and senior). The emeritus category was developed after the resolution, but it has already been incorporated to the condition. Additionally, the recognized trajectory, a wide experience and knowledge are considered to designate the role of peer reviewer, given the information that rests on the CvLAC application of the ScienTI platform and according to the time that the researcher has been associated to the system, among other aspects including the peer reviewer’s areas of knowledge and expertise. When the researcher who wants to become a peer reviewer, meets the criteria established by MINCIENCIAS (which will now be Minciencias) for the recognition of peer reviewers, in accordance with the resolution in force (Internal Resolution 1037 of 2014), he/she must approve the visualization of his/her contact data in the database of Peer Reviewers published in the ScienTI Platform – Information Service of Recognized Peer Reviewers of the SNCTeI and, in addition, he/she must select his/her areas of knowledge of interest.

The designation as Peer Reviewers recognized by MINCIENCIAS, will allow each of the researchers to be called as peer reviewers of projects, programs and activities in science, technology and innovation in the framework of funding calls or direct co-financing by MINCIENCIAS; from those to access resources of the Science Fund, Technology and Innovation-FCTI (By its acronym in Spanish)- coming from the General System of Royalties-SGR; from those of other states, national or territorial institutions, managed by MINCIENCIAS; or from those that have funds coming from international cooperation organizations, international entities or entities of the international financial system such as the World Bank or the Inter-American Development Bank, and whose resources are managed by MINCIENCIAS.
The peer reviewers recognized by MINCIENCIAS are the equivalent of the peer reviewers designated by the Ministry of National Education-MEN (By its acronym in Spanish)- for the processes of qualified registration or those designated by the National Council of Accreditation-CNA (By its acronym in Spanish)- for the processes of high quality programs and institutions.
