Care Circles in Medellín: Comprehensive Support for Caregivers
- 16 septiembre, 2025

The Secretariat for Women of Medellín presents the Care Circles, spaces designed for caregivers to dedicate time to their well-being and personal development while their family members receive specialized care. This initiative aims to redistribute caregiving responsibilities and transform how caregivers use their time.
In these spaces, caregivers can study, start businesses, work, rest, exercise, or access legal and psychological counseling, as well as practical services like laundry centers for their clothes and their families’. At the same time, those under their care receive professional attention, ensuring comprehensive support.
The María Cano University Foundation, through the Vice-Rectory for Extension and Social Projection, led by Vice-Rector Paola Rueda López, and the Faculty of Health Sciences, with Dean Juanita Sánchez Romero, joins this important initiative by providing services in physiotherapy, speech therapy, psychology, occupational therapy, and nutrition and dietetics. This alliance with the Medellín Mayor’s Office, through the Secretariat for Women, reflects the social commitment and institutional responsibility of the University to benefit the community.
The sessions will take place on three dates: September 16 in Commune 5 (UVA Sin Fronteras in Castilla), October 17 in Commune 8 (UVA La Imaginación in Villa Hermosa), and November 7 in Commune 3 (UVA La Alegría in Manrique). This proposal seeks to empower caregivers and improve the quality of life in Medellín.
