CMI Cali: Evidence of interest in formative research both in the classroom and practice

Professor Viviana Taylor, research leader at Cali branch, was in charge of organizing Day of Science, Movement and Research (CMI) 2019 – II, where teachers and students presented the results and products of the most outstanding projects, resulting from The activities of Research in the Classroom and Research in Practice, strengthening the relationship with the external sector and the interinstitucional approach. Professors from the IUEND (National School of Sports) attended as keynote speakers according to institutional mobility principles. Professor María Nancy Rubio Silva presented the project entitled «Methods of training the elderly», followed by Professor Olga Lucía Hincapié Gallón with her presentation «Analysis of performance of low-cost knee prostheses in unilateral transfemoral amputees.» Subsequently Professor Jonathan Betancourt Peña finished the participation of the IUEND in the keynote presentations, with the project «Factors related to the development of asthma in childhood in two schools in the city of Cali.»
As for the students, they presented interesting proposals in a thematic variety covering different areas for physiotherapists training and performance. All the presentations proved how of great interest it is for institutions to base practice on evidence and fostering a culture of constant improvement in future physiotherapists. The results and products from the outstanding projects deriving from the activities of classroom research were a taste of the students, teachers and researchers’ creativity, which was reflected in the posters, presentations, anatomical and biomechanical models presented.
