Commitment to care and reparation for the victims of the conflict

Consistent with its commitment to social responsibility, inclusion, respect and access to higher education, the María Cano University Foundation signed a letter of understanding with the Unit for the Comprehensive Attention and Reparation of Victims, which allows compliance with the mission to contribute to education for all citizens of the country, through the open modality, at a distance and in virtual learning environments, through pedagogical action, social projection, regional development and community projection, inclusion, research, internationalization and methodological and didactic innovations, with the use of information and communication technologies to promote and accompany autonomous learning, generating culture and an entrepreneurial spirit that, within the framework of global society and knowledge, promote the sustainable economic, social and human development of local, regional and global communities co n quality, efficiency and social equity.
In this way, cooperation actions will be generated that favor the victims of the armed conflict included in the Single Registry of Victims, which allow access to higher education, in the fields of research, exchange of information, supply, generation of knowledge, social intervention, science and culture; Through actions such as the exemption from the registration fee for undergraduate and graduate programs, the granting of a 15% discount on the value of ordinary tuition for undergraduate and graduate programs, deliver for each closed group of 25 students 1 total scholarship for the same group, as well as inclusion in the academic retention program «Te quiero en la U» led by María Cano.
This institutional commitment applies to all the headquarters of the María Cano University Foundation, as follows:
- Medellín Headquarters: Business Administration and Public Accounting, in face-to-face and virtual modalities, Speech Therapy, Psychology and Software Engineering.
- Cali Headquarters: Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy in the face-to-face modality and the Business Administration and Public Accounting programs in the virtual modality.
- Popayán Headquarters: Speech therapy in the face-to-face modality and the Business Administration and Public Accounting programs in the virtual modality.
- Neiva Headquarters: Speech therapy in the face-to-face mode and the Business Administration and Public Accounting programs in the virtual mode.
Similarly, the María Cano University Foundation promised to accompany the beneficiaries of the Reparation Fund for access, permanence and graduation in higher education for the population victim of the armed conflict in Colombia by exchanging information. In addition, generate support strategies in the educational process, carry out academic exchanges between institutions, seminars and academic meetings, carry out research activities and joint publications, produce electronic and digital media, directly support the Network of Human Rights Observatories and IHL – RODHI of which the Unit for Comprehensive Attention and Reparation to Victims is a part, promoting the efficient flow of information that allows knowing the benefits granted to the victim population of the armed conflict, providing technical assistance and accompaniment to the victim population, according to the lines of work carried out by the institution, supporting initiatives on psychosocial issues and differential approaches, as well as advising on income generation projects.
