Commitment to inclusion and respect for the community

The Presidential Council for Disability and the Colombian Network of Higher Education Institutions for Disability REDCIESD signed the pact to strengthen inclusive higher education. The event was held in Casa de Nariño, with the presence of the presidential adviser for disability Jairo Clopatoski, the national coordination of REDCIESD in charge of the Universidad del Atlántico through Professor Oris Mercado and the national technical secretariat of the network a charge of the María Cano University Foundation in charge of the teacher Julián David Cerón Bedoya, belonging to the Cali campus.
The signing of the pact is given in order to establish mutual cooperation in order to establish exchange and collaboration programs in areas of interest that promote the benefit of people with disabilities, such as:
- Provide, on the part of the CIESD NETWORK, accompaniment to counseling in activities, projects and programs that seek the educational, social and labor inclusion of people with disabilities.
- Taking into account the lack of preexistence of a database of the HEIs on PwD in its measure and in accordance with the diagnosis that the observatory has been elaborating, from the CIESD Network to support the characterization of the population that is linked to the different IES of the country and the conditions of access, permanence and graduation in which they are.
- Be the benchmark for academic support and discipline the Presidential Council.
- Accompany the presidential council in strengthening higher education through participation in research projects and social projection according to the Regional and National context.
Work together on affirmative actions pertinent to the social sector to close historical gaps with respect to education and socialize these actions to generate calm spaces free of discrimination.
The María Cano University Foundation ratifies its unwavering commitment to inclusion, respect for all members of society, collective participation in activities that generate social benefit and support for all initiatives and projects that benefit the community.
