During the last year the Physiotherapy program of the María Cano University Foundation, Cali, has worked hard in the self-evaluation exercise with a view to high quality accreditation, in order to make the results of this public known to the community. process, as well as everything that frames it, where the design and implementation of academic awareness activities are contemplated. It is for this reason that the professors and the administrative team of this program, attached to the Faculty of Health Sciences, participated in an academic, recreational and recreational day in which different spaces and moments were held that allowed the approach of related topics with the self-evaluation process for accreditation purposes, before the Ministry of National Education. The results of this rigorous analysis, dialogue, academic debate and consultation; generates an important report of strengths and opportunities for institutional and headquarters improvement for the development of substantive functions in coordination with the processes of the María Cano in the capital of Valle del Cauca, where the projection of important proposals and projects for the benefit of the community.
The CNA – National Accreditation Council – has declared in its different quality documents that: «In higher education, self-evaluation should be a permanent practice, which enables a critical look at the way in which institutions assume the development of all the processes involved. , in order to systematically monitor the fulfillment of its mission objectives, to analyze the conditions that affect its development and for the implementation of measures that promote continuous improvement, in such a way as to ensure the quality of the service they offer, in this In this sense, self-assessment is the central stage of the accreditation process.
The self-evaluation process and the corresponding report must be the result of a participatory, responsible and critical work of the members of the academic community and other interest groups, so that the great institutional effort and the academic program have legitimacy, serve the purposes of continuous improvement and guarantee the commitment to the high quality of the institution and academic programs.
The self-evaluation of academic programs and institutions presents some suggestions to facilitate the development of self-evaluation processes for high-quality accreditation purposes of academic programs and institutions that decide to advance in the accreditation process. Given that this is a voluntary and autonomous act, the recommendations presented here are indicative and therefore constitute a flexible base, from which elements are extracted both to develop evaluation instruments with characteristics of relevance, validity and reliability, as well as to consult the required sources «.
