- 9 noviembre, 2022

Within the framework of the research project: «Intervention through physical activity and health education to modify sedentary behaviors and poor eating habits in children and young people with obesity in the city of Popayán» by the young researcher Nataly Andrea Orozco Bolaños and the tutor Elizabeth Roldán González, the activity called guidelines for healthy habits for a good life was developed, which was attended by directors of the schools, the coordinator Saúl Jesús Pulido, parents and students of the Tomás Cipriano de Mosquera Technical Educational Institution and the School Manuela Beltran.
Officials from the municipal Health Secretariat participated in the activity, presenting the public food and nutritional security policy for the year 2022; At the same time, they provided theoretical-practical guidance on the value and ways of developing healthy lifestyle habits with an emphasis on physical activity and healthy eating: how to eat well with native foods and healthy preparation methods. In the same way, parents and students were trained to create sustainable gardens at home, the creation of a garden in schools was proposed and basic supplies for planting were delivered to parents and students.
There was also the accompaniment of Professor Mabel Cristina Calvache Muñoz and students of Technology in Gastronomic Management of the Unicomfacauca University Corporation, who taught parents how to make healthy lunch boxes in a practical way. The work was completed with a body awareness intervention and a cardiovascular resistance test with which it was sought to raise awareness about the responsibility for self-care of health and the importance of becoming active models in the practice of physical activity.
Once again, the institutional commitment to the health of children and young people in southwestern Colombia is evident. #MásMaríaCano
