The María Cano University Foundation fulfills its purpose of being an active agent of change and regional development, respecting the dynamics of the country’s region and the departments in which the Institution is present; In this way, the director of the Center for Advanced and Continuous Training, Sandra Mónica Ramos Ospina, accompanied by the dean of the Faculty of Business Sciences, managed to generate the consolidation of the groups for the opening of the Specialization in Senior Management and the Specialization in Management and Project Evaluation in the Municipality of Salgar, located in the southwest of the department of Antioquia. In the company of Mayor Carlos Andrés Londoño Vélez and the Secretary of Education, Paula Andrea Vélez Parra, the process began with officials and contractors of the municipal administration, administrative support personnel and healthcare personnel from the ESE Hospital San José, members of the Cooperative of coffee growers, teachers and inhabitants of the municipality.
Salgar is located in the southwestern subregion of the department of Antioquia, it limits to the north with the municipalities of Urrao, Betulia and Concordia, to the east with Concordia, Venecia and Tarso, to the south with Pueblorrico and Ciudad Bolívar, and to the west with the municipality of El Carmen de Atrato, department of Chocó and the municipality of Urrao.
On its website: the mayor’s office points out that “Salgar is located in the southwest of the department of Antioquia, planted in the western mountain range at the foot of the imposing Plateado hill, the municipal seat is at a height of 1,250 meters above sea level, its territorial extension is 418 square km, its temperature is perfect since its warm climate averages 23 ° Celsius, its population is approximately 18,000 inhabitants, it was founded in 1,880 and erected a municipality in 1,903, among its illustrious sons we can highlight the doctor Álvaro Uribe Vélez, former president of the Republic of Colombia.
The municipality of Salgar is only 97 km away from the capital of the department and the road trip is quite pleasant due to the exotic landscapes that nature offers us, the road is fully paved and the trip takes us only two and a half hours to the main park. To get there from Medellín, take the coffee trunk, passing through the municipalities of Caldas, Amagá and reaching the township of Bolombolo, a few kilometers from there the jurisdiction of the municipality of Salgar begins. The economy, almost in its entirety, revolves around coffee crops, which have transcended time and that is why today, they are a heritage of our land and a true pride for our people.
Salgar is a place of peace, of honest, humble and enterprising people, who will not hesitate to welcome you and serve you warmly, so that every time you visit us, you feel at home ”.
The María Cano University Foundation thus ratifies its contribution to educational coverage at the postgraduate level and supports the strategies and initiatives of the regions to promote territorial development from the training of competent specialists capable of articulating and interacting for the transformation of the environment.
